The main conference venue is the Grosvenor Building at Manchester Metropolitan University, located on Cavendish Street in central Manchester (M15 6BG). The venue is within walking distance of Manchester city centre and well served by public transport.
Manchester Piccadilly is the main railway station, approximately 15 minutes' walk from the Grosvenor Building. Manchester Oxford Road station is even closer, at around 5 minutes' walk. Both stations are served by frequent trains from across the UK, including direct services from London Euston (approximately 2 hours), Birmingham New Street (90 minutes), and Leeds (1 hour).
Manchester Airport is the main international airport serving the region, located approximately 10 miles south of the city centre. The airport is connected to the city by train (20 minutes to Piccadilly) and by the Metrolink tram service.
The Metrolink tram system connects central Manchester with surrounding areas. The nearest stops to the Grosvenor Building are St Peter's Square and Deansgate-Castlefield, both a short walk from the venue.
Manchester offers a wide range of accommodation options to suit different budgets. The conference organisers suggest booking well in advance, as July is a popular time for events in the city.
Several budget hotel chains have properties in central Manchester, including branches within walking distance of the university. University halls of residence may also be available for summer bookings during the conference period.
The Oxford Road corridor and Deansgate area offer numerous mid-range hotels within easy reach of the conference venues. Many are accessible on foot or by a short tram ride.
Hotels on or near Oxford Road and Whitworth Street West offer the most convenient access to the Grosvenor Building and Samuel Alexander Lecture Theatre. Delegates should look for accommodation in the M1, M15, or M3 postcode areas for the shortest travel times.
Manchester is a vibrant, multicultural city with a rich literary and cultural heritage. Delegates will find plenty to explore during breaks or in the evenings.
The area around Oxford Road, Chinatown, and the Northern Quarter offers an exceptional range of dining options. From street food markets to fine dining, Manchester's food scene reflects the city's diversity. Curry Mile on Wilmslow Road in Rusholme is a short bus ride away and offers dozens of South Asian restaurants.
Manchester is home to world-class cultural institutions including the Whitworth Art Gallery (free entry), Manchester Art Gallery (free entry), the John Rylands Library (free entry, with its stunning collection of rare books and manuscripts), and HOME, a centre for international contemporary art, theatre, and film.
Literature enthusiasts should visit the Manchester Poetry Library at MMU (also a conference venue), Waterstones Deansgate, and independent bookshops such as Paramount Books and the Whitworth Art Gallery bookshop.

Any participant who experiences or witnesses a breach of this code of conduct is encouraged to report it to the conference organisers. Reports can be made in person to any member of the organising team, or via the contact page. All reports will be treated confidentially and taken seriously.
